Emoji support isn’t just for your personal chats anymore—it’s now an integral feature of your cruise support experience. By embedding emojis directly into ticket updates, automated notifications, and live-chat replies, Royal Caribbean is enhancing clarity, tone, and emotional connection between guests and agents.
Why Emoji?
Humanize Communications: A simple smile 😊 or thumbs-up 👍 can diffuse tension and reassure guests that their concerns matter.
Clarify Tone: Written text can sometimes feel cold or ambiguous. Emojis add nuance, ensuring “We’re looking into this” doesn’t come across as curt.
Improve Readability: Break up dense blocks of text. Quick-fire bullet points with emojis guide guests through steps more effectively.
Key Features in v24.12.3
Inline Emoji Picker – Agents can click the smiley-face icon in the response toolbar to browse common emojis categorized by emotion, service type, and action.
Auto-Emoji Suggestions – Using natural-language processing, the system suggests relevant emojis as an agent types. For example, typing “thank you” prompts the 🙏 emoji.
Custom Emoji Sets – Royal Caribbean has rolled out branded emojis—like the ship icon 🚢 and sun icon 🌞—to celebrate special offers or events. Agents select from both standard Unicode and custom sets.
Getting Started
Log into your Help Desk portal and navigate to Settings → Appearance. Under Messaging Enhancements, toggle on Emoji Support.
In Agent Profile, choose your default emoji skin tone and enable Auto-Emoji Suggestions to streamline responses.
Test it out by replying to a sample ticket. Click the smiley-face in the toolbar to open the picker, or simply type “:)” to trigger the quick-insert menu.
Expert Tip Use emojis sparingly for maximum impact. Over-use can distract or confuse. Aim for one to three emojis per message, strategically emphasizing emotion or key steps.
